dear all,

since our class chalet has concluded for a while now, i thought i'd pen some of my observations and thoughts, to make those who didn't come feel like ripping their eyes from their sockets and eating them, and to provide those who came a more complete picture of the whole chalet project. think of this as a kind of AAR/post activity reflection/random need-to-get-alcohol-out-of-my-system bitching.

first i believe it'll be appropriate to thank everyone for showing up; we got 17 seniors, including people who were previously MIA for many other outings like ONASIDENOTE!DAWEI, to attend. also there was a relatively large number of juniors around. i'll be so brazen as to congratulate myself for a job well done, because i'm just that damn sure that everyone enjoyed themselves. and if you are amongst those who can't decide if you did enjoy yourself, please recall the time when you went for that mr. bean's holiday movie outing. the one that left you feeling like you ordered ice kachang but didn't get the ice.

anyways, that aside.

observation#1
BBQing in the rain is fucking retarded, but it makes for a tonne of fun. generally i don't agree with BBQs cause its so much trouble to do everything. like starting the fire, waiting for the charcoal to burn, hoping the fire doesn't die, fanning the flames like your life depends on it, throwing alcohol into the fire then laughing in fits of gleeful joy, and marinating various foods in VODKA and then serving to unknowing victims. and after all that work, your food gets burnt anyway, you get diarrhoea and those cooking hardly eat anything. i think i had like 2 fucking sausages (tom) the whole night.

but the whole rain thing made it 10x funner. or maybe it was laughing at zijian's shitty cooking skills. or giving names to the sausages. whatever, the BBQing was rather enjoyable.

observation#2
if my life depended on it, the person i'd choose to help me gamble is edwin. he puts YANFEI, KINGOFGAMBLERS, to shame. i'm sure with his nimble hands, and agile fingers, he could pick out of the ace of spades from a deck of 256 cards, or the 9 panadols from a mountain of mahjong tiles. oh. and if i could choose his opponent, it'd be GECHENGHAO. his skill makes me want to "take my pen, stick it through my eye, into my brain. and swirl", like june tan once commented of my GP block test essay handwriting.

observation#3
when you're drunk, your head feels heavy, the world swirls, you don't hear shit, and you take half a screen to do a U turn in snake2. i did some simple calculations (while sober), assuming the volume of a plastic cup is 80ml, and that i had a total of 1.5 cups of vodka @40% concentration of alcohol. it came up to 48ml of alcohol that i had running in my blood. or wherever it goes after you drink it. wtf. thats like 12903819023 bottles of beer. i'm never drinking alcohol ever again. not even if you give me money and sexual favours (unless you're aww). i can get high enough on disney and nostalgia, thank you.

observation#4
people work like lemmings. or sheep, if you haven't tried the game of midgets with green hair.

there was this mass exodus at about 10, probably the result of a herd mentality that led everyone to conclude that since someone was leaving, its a good idea to just blindly follow suit. omg, my friend is eating shit for lunch, i can't be bothered to put the brain that god gave me to good use, so i'll just have that same shit too! i'm actually just sore that few people stayed over, not that i was actually sober enough to notice.

other random things
*lingerie is fucking expensive.
*edwin watches ugly betty at 10pm.
*2 servings of a single whopper < a double whopper. at least to yiheng
*jiayi's sleeping posture is something like this.

but she's 19283712837x prettier.
*a mini green dustbin is actually quite a good receptacle for money.

anyways, since this chalet was a relative success, except for the fact that most people didn't stay, hongyu and i will try our bestest bests to do one in december. oh, about finances, i made a loss of 40$, because _all_seniors_ were supposed to pay 15$, but some didn't, because (i speculate) they didn't stayover. the fee is a standard 15$ to encourage people to stay over, and to be fair to those who didn't/can't stayover but paid 15$ anyway. but its ok, cause i sold bingcheng a pair of emart shoes for 40$, so that went into covering the costs.

possible improvements at the next chalet.
1. NO ALCOHOL. or at least for me.
2. fucking overcharge everyone first, then return the money if there's excess.
3. the place needs some music.
4. hongyu thinks a smaller place will promote greater interaction between people, as opposed to having fragmented groups of people doing their own stuff.

finally, as the self-proclaimed main organiser, i'd like to thank a few people. hongyu for actually doing most, if not all, of the shit, while i take all the credit. lijia for doing all the BBQ stuff, like contacting the wholesale dudes for food, getting meihui to bring beehoon, shopping at NTUC. bingcheng and his dad for buying my emart shoes. shuhui for helping us choose lijia's birthday present. anyone who helped in one way or another in making the chalet project a success, but wasn't significant enough for me to spell their name out. all of you for coming.

bob.
