London's 8 hours behind Singapore, starting from today!

No more daylight saving. That meant one extra hour of sleep last night, cos we turned the clocks back an hour last night. In fact, the Windows clock turned back an hour automatically at 2am! :D It felt so goood, an extra hour. Haha but we'll turn the clocks forward in March again.

That means winter's coming! The leaves are turning yellow and falling now... The sun is setting earlier (and even earlier now that we're an hour back) and it's getting colldd!! >.< The winds are so chilly even with the sun out. Haha exciting. Temperatures might drop to 3degrees at night next week.
Though this is nothing compared to Michigan and Chicago...

Ohh and it's Halloween on tuesday!! BOO. lol.

today, we prematurely celebrate the birthday of a very great man, one who has touched our lives in many special ways. to some, he was a saint, a holyman, a messiah sent to deliver us all from the pain and agony of endless lectures and ongjekyaw physics tutorials. to others, a source of instruction and enlightenment, providing all of us mere mortals an insight into the thoughts of a intellectually blessed individual. one would hardly forget the time when he effortlessly answered, "you asked me to repeat what you just said" when asked to repeat what had just been said. perhaps, to most, he was simply a friend who was suffering the same physical and mental torment that students endured, a fellow comrade with the same shitty grades despite burning all the midnight oil before the exams -- except that he was able to laugh it off with a smile and try harder next time.

it is extremely unfortunate that this person is not around with us for he has, tragicly, been blinded by love, and consumed by the evil of army. however, on behalf on everyone, i would like to let him know how great a contribution he has made to my, if not everyone's lives, that his sacrifices have not gone unappreciated, and that it has been my pleasure and honour to be regarded as his friend. it is rare that such a a beautiful being passes through our lives to bless and beautify all around him. zijian, you've been a wonderful acquaintance, i'll treasure those moments.

we must celebrate, despite his absence.

ohh maf sounded so happening! haha I'm having pharmacology lectures everyday, and some intro lectures to the different aspects of pharmacy. But I usually turn the boring ones into art lessons to keep awake. Lol. erm. jet lag still. :P

And I had a practical lesson yesterday. Ah I want my lab coat! The suppliers are soo slow.

I haven't really decided which CCA to join yet! Haha am already starting to help in in next Feb's UK hwa chong nite. 10th anniversary! lol. anyone want to fly over to attend?

The weather's crazy here. The temperatures were dropping, then they rose again, and the rains are so sudden. Rah. About time to go get boots. :D

Woohoo.. maf was cool.. 3 dollars worth of confetti owned the huge budget of council. hahaha eh weiwen send me the pics eh..
rite lets give shenonn a rundown of our version of maf.. met at lido for er.. meeting purposes.ww, lj, yj, bc and i proceeded to chinatown cos yj told zj we were gng chinatown. and realized chinatown is a useless place to search for crackers. only good for dragon shirts. fucked off frm chinatown for bugis which provided the shop to our 3 dollar confetti. met zj at mrt and yj gave him a hug. travelled to adams to eat dinner. yuhuan insisted on eating nasilemak eventhough the queue was 5km long. luckily reached sch in time for the grand lite up which was normal except for the spectacular confetti cracker thing. FUCKING COOL. then waited hell long for the song and dance. inbetween played with the sparklers and took pics here and there.. theres this cool round the camera pic in weiwens cam.. so fucking post the pic man.. okay and the dance was gay shit. ditched jiayi for yj and had a whale of a time twirling arnd and getting our genders all mixed up.. okay and stoned arnd and took more pics and decided to go town for some kbox. reached town and the 3 girls and bj kboxed. ww yj and hy watched the ricky bobby show.. came out and called them, thinking they wld end at 215am. ww ate fishball noodles, yj drank red bull and me long island tea. toked shit bout girls and guys and how they screwed eachothers lives up in jc. finally at 330 they emerged frm the lift. took cabs home and i konked out at 430. ccb. but that was a damn fun nite. ccb.

hellooo!
I'm getting quite used to london now, liking it here! :) lol i changed my mind quite fast huh. Remember hating it the first few days. :P

Wonder how i'm surviving the food, dust, smoke, weather and water! haha but i'm still alive, so, i guess my tolerance has improved...

Lectures started proper this week, though some are still intro. I had pharmacology lect today, and we covered nervous systems in an hour. Good thing we learnt those in As before, so i wasn't that lost. But I've kinda forgotten half of it. :P My first semester would be mostly revision stuff, cos the students are of diff qualifications. Some are doing their second degree, so they must really ahead of most of us freshies in certain topics!

Anyway, pharmacy is so much more defined in UK. Esp the community pharmacists, it's not just NTUC or Watsons or Guardian aunties. (btw, 65% of graduates go to community pharmacy.) They deal with so much more patient contact and actual consultations. And I'll get to see how things work in an actual pharmacy during my lessons (the subject's called pharmacy practice)! haha cool huh. I'm quite sure I made a right choice. :) Ah. It's so tempting to stay here and work! :\ haha i already know i'll really miss london when i have to leave in 5 years time. too early to be thinking of this eh. :P

My timetable... it's different every week. For the first 2 weeks, it's quite slack, after that, it's 9am lectures and long long days. But early lectures don't bother me that much. Cos i stay just 3 min away from my sch. lol. It's really convenient. Can go back during long breaks! Saves a lot of transport money too.

As for pple, i've been mixing around with mostly sporeans, hk, asians... There's little interaction with the others still, except meeting the person sitting next to you during lect. haha maybe it'll be better when tutorials and seminars begin. Those in my hall, i don't really hang out with them so much either... though i know i can just find them down in the bar if i want to. :P ophs. haha but they are all nice pple lah.

okayy, gtg! take care in spore. heard about the bad haze. and those who are going, have lots of fun at maf!! relive the hwa chongian days.

hey qianyi,

i think you are coming down with some singaporeans who also have friends in UChicago right... i cant bring you arnd alone cos im not too great with directions and can get lost in campus itself :( and chicago isnt as safe as Mich so we got to move arnd in large grps to be safe. just that day, there was a robbery and a sexual assault just outside my sch library at 8pm. tt's how scary chicago is, even in campus.

and why do i have a crappy sinking feeling that while uare having term break, im having my exams.. haha.. i think it's cos you guys operate o na semester system while we operate on a quarter system. anw, just update me abt where and when u are actually coming down, and im sure we can work sthg out! we must really go downtown and chinatown (for some singapore food) when you are here!

HEY!!!
Sorry i took so long to post. I've been in michigan for a month and gm...it seems really diff here as compared to chicago. so far, i've been pretty slack. i think its because i'm taking math, chem and programming, so i dont have as much reading and writing to do. i know the humanities ppl are having a hard time though, because they get like 50 pages at every lecture.

exams are next week, but can't get myself motivated to mug. so far, chem has been more or less a revision of A levels with some new stuff...and i have no idea how to mug programming.

we have a lot of blacks in ann arbor too, but i think the crime rate here's a lot lower. i havent gotten harrassed so far. they leave me alone even if i'm walking alone at 11.30pm at night going back to my dorm from ballroom dancing practice. the ppl here are really nice. since we're staying in dorms, we pretty much know each other and say hi when we pass by on the corridors. its really amazing how polite the drivers here are. they really stop at stoplines to let pedestrains cross...maybe coz there are soooo many uncontrolled junctions around here.

and we'll be going to chicago during fall break! that's 14-17 oct i think. gm...do you think i could drop by and visit? maybe you can bring me around chicago for a day tour =D
