just a little update i guess im going japan afterall i sign the letter of acceptance liao. course of study is most likely econs or biz, i wan biz but this will need confirmation wif "The board". choice of uni is the tricky part here, cos wat uni i go will ultimately depends on my language proficiency test results there after one year of study in japan. im sup to go to a "top tier uni approved by stb" at least. im aimin for tokyo u, but so is me and everyone else in japan, so i hav to mug lik shiat then. realleh lik the love hina guy alr ftw =_=

Tsk bc ure missing the point. your so called "treacherous and pretty meaningless paths up and downn slope to the various assortment of deadends" is called exploration. "tried and tested cycling trail"s are boring. U dun wanna keep cycling down the same route over and over right. tats repetitive and tat sucks. cycling down untried routes and getting lost is part of the fun.

which reminds me, actually besides night cycling we can hav a day cycling at ubin. HAX!

and news is i dun think im going smu anymore. singapore tourism board offered me e scholarship to go japan to study at tokyo university. OMG HAX! budden again i may not be going also still got too many details to iron out to be sure n_n

Rofl, I only realised recently that you have very little experience with cycling, Liwen. Anyhow, it must have taken you a lot of courage to accompany us along the many treacherous and pretty meaningless paths up and downn slope to the various assortment of deadends. Hopefully, in the next class cycling activity we can follow a more tried and tested cycling trail instead of brainlessly cycling along the main road. Although you must admit, cycling forward simply to see whats on the far side of the road does have its charm.

Btw, whats a varsity camp. Why is it that I never seem to receive these invitations?

cheer up lw! you didn't do that badly.. only saw you smash into ONE pole and crash into the bushes a couple of times.. but that's about it! you did well for someone who learnt to cycle only 2 days before the outing! =)
anyway, yah. night cycling would be fun! just that.. it'd be kinda hard to find time for it eh? all the university camps are coming up already.. any of you going for varsity camps? eunice, lw and i are going for the vcf camp.. =)

after cycling at sentosa, i'm afraid, it has been proven that i'm terribly prone to smashing into poles, crashing into other cyclists (causing a nasty chain of accidents behind me), skidding off kerbs, ramming into bushes and just, toppling over once in a while for no reason. so here's a great big THANKS! to all my lovely classmates who, despite being experts at cycling, took good care of me -- the amateur cyclist. but i will always be game for some more cycling! notwithstanding my traumatic experiences. As eunice says, "there is nothing more enjoyable that requires less effort than cycling." ain't she right!

汽车的吵杂声，透过耳机的音乐传来。到站时阅卡器所发出的声音，成为车上嘈音的伴奏。一个人坐车回家的感觉是孤寂的.座位旁缺少了你的气味,真的有点不习惯.不习惯到我有所不自在.我,开始无所事事地观察着身边的人们.
对面坐着一个学生.米色的制服,无框的眼镜,厚厚的书本,低着头认真地写着.考试要到了吧!啃书的模样,让我回忆起当初在学校时的情形.每天不停地挣扎着完成作业,最后还是沦为不及格的队伍.我们埋怨着功课,考试,老师.从lecture无聊,到睡眠不足,到天气闷热.任何事物都可以是我们埋怨的对象.想要把握每份每秒,稚气满满的以为考到好成绩就是人生目标之一.原来这一切就像是小时候的童话故事,长大后就会被现实腐蚀得面目全非.现在的我们,好像是生活的奴隶.日出时,踏出疲惫的脚步,日落后,再带着无力的身躯回家.偶尔又蜕变成一群尘世的猎食者,寻找自己内心仅存的一丝青春.

The Sentosa class outing is now postponed to 17th june, next Sat.
Sorry for the change!! Hope it's not too last-minute.
We'll confirm the details again next week. :)

Try to join us! ( possibly one of the last few class outings before some of us fly off!) Even if you can't go during the day, go for dinner... We could leave the island earlier and have dinner at town.

hee. im going bangkok tmr to compete in SEA juniors for long jump! hope can go shopping!! yay

yupyup. im going to ntu for e double degree course. biomedical science and tcm! hahah sounds interesting! hope its fun!

yupyup. o i received e letter for e awards ceremony thingie. but the letter states that DYED HAIR ISH NOT ALLOWED! mmm.. means i cant go? hee btw, i dyed my hair liao. hohoh. but nvm la. i think i will still go. it can be a gathering for us ya. can go out after tt!

yupyup. sentosa gathering! i support 10th june! cos its onn's bdae. heehee. i miss school!
i miss playing captain ball (esp e first three months).

Well, I guess I have made my choice by accepting medicine. Maybe I was never meant to study overseas, but undoubtedly, I will be plagued with eternal self-doubt and uncertainty over my decision. Unlike many people, who are intensely commited to a particular profession and course, I find myself lost and confused in an increasingly complicated world. My eyes are not sharp enough to peer into the clouded future, and I dont have a single hint of what I want to be. Perhaps that is what life is all about, tumbling from one choice to another even as we seek out what we truly yearn for, experiencing for ourselves the exruciatingly bitter agony of defeat, injustice and guilt so that we can better appreciate the little successes that makes life so much worth living.

One fine day, i arrived home from camp, in the same jovial, cheery, jubiliant mood that everyone is in when they get out of camp. Upon stepping into the building, i was greeted with this odd, out-of-sorts feeling, the same feeling you get when you finally discover the strange, bothering itch at your groin is the result of you wearing your underwear the wrong way round. The air smelt funny -- a combination of yellowing paper and dried tomatoes. I scanned the room for hostiles, when all of a sudden i noticed, in the corner of my flawless mahogany table, an envelope, of A4 size, bearing the crest of a famous local tertiary instituition.

I raced over, in eager anticipation, tearing open the letter that i had received from the NUS office of admissions, to be greeted with the following words, "[blahblahblah] CHEMICAL ENGINEERING [blahblahblah]". My world came crashing down, as darkness and melancholy seized me with a vise-like grip. the room seemingly melted away, leaving me to wallow in my despair, and even the very air i breathed seemed choking and toxic as if all the world existed only to amplify my pain and sorrow.

Excruciatingly, i sat down and thought. Thought long and hard. I pictured myself working in a huge spanking-new Shell petrochemical plant, stirring huge vats of fetid black liquid, which bubbled and occassionally belched foul vapours, with a giant spatula. Or perhaps it would be sitting in an armchair in a spic-and-span control room with sophisticated machinery surrounding me, drinking tonnes of coffee and consuming as many strawberry walnut donuts as it is humanly possible to. No, i was destined for greater things. There was more to life then polluting the air and destroying my lungs. What then, was my calling?
